ZOOM. FADE. - FLEXIBLE ROOM DIVIDER AND TELESCOPE LAMP
The system and objects around us are mostly so static. The relation between a person and the object is not that intimate.
The room divider and the lamp are interactive and flexible objects. I see them as breathing systems. Human systems.
Human systems who are changing by your touch and movement. The objects bring more interaction between the user and the object. With a changing surrounding in light and colour, these objects give various perceptions. The object and you show the multiple stadia; the levels in light and weight, depending on your preference on a specific moment.
‘Zoom’ lamp makes you choose to have direct or diffuse light. By moving the copper circles you create different stadia of light. The lamp works like a telescope. A spot of light on a certain point; or, by moving the circles backwards, a more spacious and equalized light.
‘Fade’ room divider, is actually a big opaque rubber sheet, a surface which is flexible and touchable. On eye level the opacity is changing to a seek through. There is a division made, but still you are able to see the other side. By every stadium of light, a different transparency. The room divider shows the reaction of light going through, plays with the weight of itself, but reacts also on your own touch. The seek through divider as an object of intimacy.
