Using unexpected, even industrial materials and traditional architectural elements, Tangelder brilliantly reinterprets these forms to imbue them with an organic softness redolent of human contact. In her own words, “the human touch in objects is so important for us to feel connected with our surroundings; their richness of stories, histories, cultures” For Traditional Techniques- Contemporary Modes, Tangelder has created lighted wall works in cast aluminium and bronze. Utilising the lost wax process, Tangelder achieves a delicate tension between the natural density of the material and the soft glowing depth of its surfaces. Her brutalist forms are delicately backlit, enveloping the cast metal in a gently luminous aura.
